Kogan Store Trust Center
Accessibility Statement
Kogan Store is committed to making our marketplace accessible and usable for everyone, regardless of device, browser, assistive technology, or ability. This statement describes our current accessibility practices, ongoing efforts, and how you can reach us if you encounter a barrier.
1. Our Commitment
Kogan Store believes that digital services should be usable by everyone. We are committed to designing and maintaining public marketplace pages, seller onboarding flows, support interfaces, and trust and policy pages in a way that is inclusive and accessible. We aim to follow recognised web accessibility principles to ensure all users can browse, shop, and get support on our platform regardless of their circumstances or the tools they use.
2. Conformance Status
Kogan Store aims to align with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA as a design target for our public-facing pages. We acknowledge that full WCAG 2.1 AA conformance requires ongoing testing, verification, and remediation including manual testing with assistive technologies.
We are in an active development phase and continue to improve accessibility across the platform. This statement will be updated as accessibility improvements are made and verified.
3. Current Accessibility Practices
The following accessibility practices are currently implemented on Kogan Store public pages:
- Responsive layouts: Public pages use responsive design that adapts to different screen sizes including mobile, tablet, and desktop.
- Labelled interactive elements: Navigation buttons, form inputs, and interactive controls include descriptive labels and ARIA attributes where implemented.
- Alternative text: Brand images and key visual elements include descriptive alt text attributes.
- Semantic HTML: Public pages use semantic HTML elements including headings, navigation landmarks, main content areas, and article structures to support assistive technology navigation.
- Keyboard navigation: Core navigation elements and interactive controls are designed to be operable via keyboard.
- Colour contrast: Text and interactive elements are designed with sufficient colour contrast to support readability in standard viewing conditions.
- Focus indicators: Interactive elements include visible focus indicators to assist keyboard and assistive technology users.
- Language attribute: The HTML lang attribute is set on pages to support screen reader language detection.
- Skip navigation: Header navigation is structured to allow assistive technology users to move efficiently between page sections.
4. Known Limitations
We are committed to transparency about the current state of accessibility on Kogan Store. The following areas may have limitations that we are actively working to address:
- Automated accessibility testing is not yet integrated into the continuous development workflow for all page types. We are working to add this to our QA processes.
- Some seller-submitted product content including images and descriptions may not yet fully meet accessibility standards, as this content is provided by independent sellers.
- Complex interactive components introduced in ongoing development may require additional accessibility review as the platform evolves.
- Full manual screen reader testing across all pages has not yet been completed.
We prioritise accessibility improvements based on the impact to users and continue to address known gaps through ongoing development.
5. Assistive Technology Compatibility
Kogan Store public pages are designed to be compatible with common assistive technologies including screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, and browser zoom functionality. We aim to ensure that core shopping, support, and onboarding workflows are operable without requiring a mouse or pointer device.
Full compatibility across every assistive technology and browser combination cannot be guaranteed. If you experience a specific compatibility issue, please contact us so we can investigate.
6. Content Provided by Third Parties and Sellers
Some content on Kogan Store is submitted by independent sellers including product names, descriptions, and images. Kogan Store cannot guarantee that all seller-submitted content fully meets accessibility standards. If you encounter inaccessible seller content, you can report it through our support channel and we will review the report.
7. Reporting an Accessibility Issue
If you encounter an accessibility barrier on Kogan Store that prevents you from completing a task, please let us know. We take accessibility feedback seriously and will investigate reported issues to determine the appropriate course of action.
When reporting an issue, it helps to include:
- The page or feature where the issue occurred.
- A description of what you were trying to do and what happened instead.
- The browser and operating system you are using.
- Any assistive technology you are using, if applicable.
Please submit accessibility reports through our Contact page or Support Center. We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports and provide a response about our intended action.
8. Ongoing Improvement
Accessibility is an ongoing effort. Kogan Store is committed to continuously improving the accessibility of our platform through regular review, testing, and remediation. We plan to expand automated accessibility checks across our development process and increase manual testing coverage over time.
This Accessibility Statement will be updated to reflect progress and any changes to our platform's accessibility posture.
